Welcome to Sentence Lab. By using our service, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sentence Lab ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Sentence Lab is a Spanish language learning application that helps users practice writing Spanish sentences. The Service includes:

  • Interactive sentence translation exercises
  • Spaced repetition review system
  • Vocabulary and verb conjugation reference tools
  • Progress tracking and statistics
  • Custom content creation features

3. Account Registration

To use Sentence Lab, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

Sentence Lab is suitable for users of all ages. If you are under 18, you represent that you have parental or guardian consent to use the Service and create an account.

4. Free and Premium Plans

Free Plan

The Free plan provides limited access to Sentence Lab features at no cost. We reserve the right to modify Free plan features at any time.

Premium Plan

The Premium plan is a paid subscription that provides full access to all features. By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Pay the applicable subscription fees
  • Automatic renewal at the end of each billing period
  • Provide valid payment information

App Store Subscriptions (iOS)

If you subscribe to Sentence Lab Premium via the Apple App Store, the following terms apply:

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price
  • You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Apple ID account settings after purchase
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription
  • Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's refund policy

Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time. For web subscriptions, cancel through your account settings or by contacting support. For App Store subscriptions, cancel through your Apple ID account settings. Upon cancellation:

  • You retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period
  • Your account reverts to the Free plan after the billing period ends
  • For web subscriptions, refunds are generally not provided for partial billing periods, though we may offer refunds at our discretion for extenuating circumstances
  • For App Store subscriptions, refund requests must be submitted to Apple

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute our content without permission
  • Use automated tools to access the Service
  • Upload malicious content or code
  • Harass, abuse, or harm others

6. User Content

You may create custom sentences and vocabulary ("User Content") within Sentence Lab. Regarding User Content:

  • You retain ownership of your User Content
  • You grant us a license to store and display your User Content to provide the Service
  • You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate any laws or rights
  • We may remove User Content that violates these Terms

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by Sentence Lab and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission
  • Use our trademarks without written consent
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

8. Third-Party Services

Sentence Lab uses third-party services to operate. These include:

  • Supabase: Database and authentication
  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • Vercel: Hosting
  • MyMemory API: Translation services

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • All content is accurate or complete
  • The Service will meet your specific learning goals
  • Defects will be corrected

Sentence Lab is a learning tool and is not a substitute for professional language instruction or certification.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SENTENCE LAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING:

  • Loss of profits or data
  • Business interruption
  • Personal injury or property damage

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sentence Lab and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party

12. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity
  • At our sole discretion with reasonable notice

You may delete your account at any time through account settings.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in [Your State/Jurisdiction].
